JR. SHARKS & MINI SHARKS
Jr. Sharks and Mini Sharks are developmental programs geared towards younger swimmers, ages 4-8. They are perfect for children who are still learning stroke techniques and who are either not yet comfortable swimming the entire length of the pool or would require substantial rest after swimming one length of the pool. Those who are not quite ready for the regular swim team can exercise their little fins and learn the skills necessary to become a Shark.
For Mini Sharks:
- Learning proper body position, arm strokes, and kicking technique
- Depending on ability, freestyle and backstroke fundamentals
- Practicing jumping into chest deep water and/or a racing dive
- Competing against other Mini Sharks and Jr. Sharks in the end-of-season Lollipop Meet
For Jr. Sharks:
- Improving the freestyle stroke
- Learning backstroke fundamentals
- Beginning breaststroke fundamentals
- Building endurance towards the ability to swim the length of the pool multiple times with only nominal rest between lengths
- Practicing a racing dive
- Competing in Sharks B meets once appropriate skill level is demonstrated in one or more strokes
- Competing against other Jr. Sharks and Mini Sharks in the end-of-season Lollipop Meet
